12 TIPS FOR NEW NAPPY'S OR NATURALS

Dear nappy ladies and gentlemen,
there are a couple of things to consider when you are newly natural, it is advisable to make use of the Internet to search for information that can aid you with managing your hair like YouTube, forums and blogs. there are so many ladies on YouTube and so many videos about natural hair care, styles etc.. when you make your research always remember to double check it because a lot of things people do on their natural hair isn't healthy at all, another thing to put in mind is, what works for some one's hair might not work for your hair, and what works for you might not work for me because we all have different hair types do what works for your hair and try to eat healthy endeavour to go to natural hair meet ups as well so that you can meet nappy people face to face and ask them questions... try sticking to the main things such as:
  1. making sure your hair and scalp is clean enough: always wash your hair, maybe once a week or bi or monthly, whichever way works for you. i wash mine once a week or once a month when I've got weaves in.
  2. keep your regimen simple: don't use too much product, for my daily regimen i use water, leave in condish (i love Cantu Shea butter), and Castor oil
  3. deep condition your hair once a week or twice, which ever works for you, i deep condish once a week
  4. when washing use a good shampoo and conditioner. i have met some naturals who use only shampoo on wash days! that's suicidal!
  5. also, learn to mostly co-wash your hair or do a pre-poo because shampoo strips your hair of its natural oil.
  6. always use a good moisturizer or leave in and essential oils to seal in the moisture(almond, Castor, olive) after wash
  7. trimming is good for the hair to get rid of the split ends so they don't travel all the way to your roots and damage your hair.
  8.  always sleep on silk pillowcase or scarf. other materials like cotton pull on our hair and causes breakage
  9. comb your hair from ends to roots don't pull on those poor babies
  10. use natural products and always remember, the best natural product is water
  11. no heat/ heat moderation. limit the use of heat, heat is not good for your nappy hair at all (even heat from the sun)
  12. don't do tight tension hair styles to avoid hair lose (especially in the baby hair area)

well like i said earlier, do what works for your hair and have patience your hair will grow healthy and beautiful and if you follow these steps you will definitely retain hair length. enjoy your journey! :)
